My Own Personal Story of Creating a Six Figure Income!

This is my very real and personal story of how I have been able to create a sustainable online business from using the suite of tools and training available to every Site Build It owner.

Some folks have actually called Site Build It "Old Fashioned!" - but in fact it has consistently had a long string of "firsts" and continues to, including the new Content 2.0 module and forth coming Socialize It! module...

The technology underlying Site Build It is CUTTING EDGE and ahead of what any other "hosting" company does, even ahead of WordPress in my opinion!

So here is MY story...

I Had A Dream...

In 2002, whilst both my wife and I were working long hours (me as an IT Manager and Sarah as a Medical Practice Manager) we struggled to meet all of our bills each and certainly could not afford to buy a house together as living near London meant it was just too expensive...

I hated seeing my wife having to go out to work every morning earlier than me to work a 60 hour week and so wanted things to change.

But How?

Like many, I had a few goals back then that I wanted to achieve:

- Quit my day job and work for myself doing what I love!
- Earn at least 10,000 USD a month!
- Tell my wife she could quit her job and never have to work again!
- Buy a large house for my wife and future family!

..and I guess if you are reading this then you may have similar dreams and hopes?

Lets face it in 2008 we face an economic downturn that is hitting SO MANY families with higher gas bills, rising mortgage payments, shrinking retirement plans and even job insecurity.

Even being able to earn an additional $500 or $1,000 is becoming essential for the family budget to balance each and every month.

For me the answer came in the form of building a business online.

I had read of others who were building websites online that pulled in lots of targeted traffic and that they were able to convert this traffic into a growing income.

I figured it could not hurt to try and so I started my 1st website (January 2003) using the Site Build It suite of tools, and called it www.updatexp.com - as my passion is helping folks with their Windows XP computers.

BUT - I Had Some Doubts!

You see Site Build It is VERY different to just putting up a website on a cheap hosting plan...

I was used to building websites like that and thought I knew better! Problem was (and still is) that you can't just design a good looking website, then upload it expecting the traffic to just roll in and start buying!!!

BUT the forums are packed with similar storied of folks who did NOT succeed that way either...

To be honest, the first few months of using Site Build It, I really did feel a bit constrained by NOT doing things the way I had always done them.

But hey, the websites I had been building up to that point were NOT making much money, so trying something new, that was working for others seemed worth a try.

Very soon after this I started to see my website articles being quoted, and linked to, by other related websites and my traffic just started to Grow and Grow!

Show Me The Money???

It was GREAT to start getting all this relevant and highly targeted traffic... BUT

How could I turn this website traffic into a "constant" source of INCOME???

Not too long after starting my 1st SiteBuildIt website, Google.com launched its "Adsense Program" - a way for website owners to display relevant adverts on their websites, so I applied and was accepted.

Within 10 minutes of adding the code they gave me to my website I was earning money!

 

That's when things really started to take off financially for me.

Google started sending me these checks each month (my share of the adverts) and these checks started to get to the point where they were larger than my pay check for my day job!!!I then looked for any other "complimentary" advertising that could be run on my website and came across a reputable company with a different advertising model that works well with Google Adsense. That company was Kontera, and now they too send me checks each and every month!

However, realizing that it was not good to have all my "eggs in one advertising basket" - I had also setup a couple of other income streams on the site as well:

- A 138 page guide to using the Windows XP Registry that I sold as an downloadable ebook!
- Recommending other companies software & hardware and earning commissions on each and every sale!

Site Build It! has many strengths, but for me, being an admitted geek, their total focus on BUSINESS is key. They focus ME on building a business, instead of doing "techie things," from early-days research to showing me 15 strong, different ways to convert traffic into dollars.

I pick and choose and add monetization models, diversifying my income!

In other words, I build on a strong foundation, traffic grows and I convert all that traffic in different ways.

Dreams Can Come True!

Fast forward to today...

I now work from home, have a 6 figure income and have been able to tell my wife she could give up her $70,000 a year job!

I have started a second Site Build It website at www.instantvista.com, have created more products of my own for sale, diversified my income through additional software vendors and advertising partners.

...in essence I have a very REAL and sustainable online business - that is totally reproducible by others with a passion for an online business of their own!

What About Blogs and Cheap Hosting?

When speaking with fellow "techies" I am often told that all that is needed to create a website is a cheap hosting account that costs less than $7 a month... no need for Site build It.

And YES, there are certainly easier ways to build a website or a blog.

BUT THERE IS NO SIMPLER WAY TO BUILD A BUSINESS

Many folks think Site Build It is a "sitebuilder" and so foolishly compare it to sitebuilders like XSitePro and WordPress. But it is sooooooooo.... much MORE than that.

The Site Build It gives you a business building process and the business building tools that frees you from all the "noise" online and enables YOU to actually focus on building YOUR business!

"I am NOT building a web site I am building a BUSINESS..."

The allure, and sadly the trap, of cheap web hosting accounts is that it is easy to put up a website and that the visitors will come. This is just NOT true.

But what about Blogs you might be asking?

I still love tinkering with websites and I have 4 WordPress blogs because I enjoy working with the software/code - BUT they are a lot of work to configure and update with security updates etc AND at the end of the day my real money comes from my Site Build It websites.

I could NOT imagin earning a 6 Figure Income from a few WordPress blogs, but I AM doing just that with my Site Build It websites!
 

WHY?

...because it is a suite of tools for building a BUSINESS online and not a WEBSITE. For those that understand the difference there is the very REAL hope of doing the same as myself and others!

So Many Inspiring Stories of Hope!

There does not seem to be a month go by when I get to hear of yet another story of how Site Build It has allowed someone else to quit there job, allow a mother to be with her children full time, see a retired couple enjoy a growing income as their pensions dwindle, release a student to concentrate on their studies instead of waiting tables, etc...

All because they have been able to make money from their passion.

                                                                               So what are YOU passionate about?

A Sad 14 Months...

Sadly in 2007 Sarah's mum passed away, and then in early 2008 both Sarah's dad and favourite aunt both passed away too.

This was quite a traumatic time in our household and I did not work for many months - but the income from my Site Build It business just kept coming in every month - on time... Something for which I was very grateful!

No boss to ask for time off, Sarah was able to drop everything when needed and be with her mum and dad at the very end, even though they were many hours away.

No boss to ask for time off to attend her favourite aunt's funeral in Canada at short notice. In fact we were able to spend 2 weeks with the family.

When my own fathers electric chair needed urgent repairs, when my mothers washing machine failed, when my sister needed help with a new car - I was able to help instantly!

Before Site Build It, and like many other families, I was usually just one pay check away from disaster and relied heavily on the credit card.

The "flexibility" my business has given us has been priceless...

Support, Support, Support

I am so grateful to be a part of a diverse community of folks; all building their OWN small businesses online and yet still have the time to support each other in the Site Build It private forums. (The information shared in here is what many so called Internet Marketing gurus charge $1,000's for in their latest "must have" courses...)

My Final Thoughts

I really don't want to seem a "sales man" for Site Build It - BUT when something has a profound effect on your life you kind of want to tell others about it!

It has been an amazing journey so far, and yet I feel I am still only at the beginning of an exciting future with Site Build It.

I also love the fact that there is even a growing list of colleges and universities now teaching Site Build It  as a "Building A Successful Business Using The Internet" course and so providing an affordable e-commerce solution for students, regardless of their age or prior Web knowledge and experience.
